The military junta has no sense at women as mothers, sisters, and others’ wives. They commit brutally. I could not believe when I heard how the female prisoners were suffering. Some female prisoners at the age of 17 or 18, the military personnel never identify if the women were girls or adult. They take the women and girls covering their head with black sack at night. We were living upset when will be our turn. The female prisoners have to dig pits in day time. They were raped on the mouth of the pit they dug. They will be able to stay alive if they did not refuse persecution. If they refuse, they will be buried in the pits they dug. If someone missing in the next morning, they spontaneously understand the she was gone. Some girl pregnant with rape and gave birth in the jail and she has to stay in disgusted and crying desperately. She said she would not feed breast the infant of the bastard, but she fed because she is a mother.”

She was swelling at her limbs, when we meet her in jail. She said her sight was poor. I don’t dare to see her again feeling grief. She always mentions she is good and fine, to give solace to family. She has no blanket, no pillow. One of her released-inmates told us that she frequently feel sick and fell down. Lack of health care in prisons and no treatments. They banned medical and pharmacy assistance outside. We are feeling worry for my younger sister” said anonymously by a Myeik resident, Tanintharyi.
